The Timekeeper
This escapee is the one that makes sure everyone knows what time it is and how much longer you have left to escape. Sometimes this is great, other times it’s tedious. The Timekeeper is characterised by being very panicky, stresses everyone else out with the time, and often spends so much time watching the seconds tick past that they don’t solve any puzzles!
The Intellectual
This is the escapee who checks through every. single. clue. They may also read too deeply into a single clue and lead you all astray. Intellectuals are valuable to have on your team but sometimes they need to be reigned in. These escapees can be characterised by their tendency to sit alone and mull over a clue for many minutes before asking a fellow team mate for help.
The Muscle
The bain of every escape room owner’s existence. These are the escapees your mother warns you about! The Muscle type of escapees tend to use brute force to ‘solve’ a puzzle, and can often be found pulling or tampering with items in the escape room we pre-warn you are not part of the puzzle *cough cough* powerpoints, skirting boards, lightbulbs *cough*.
The Excitable One
We all know this type of escapee. They’re great for enthusiasm and keenness to escape but sometimes they just lead you astray… You’ll recognise an Excitable escapee by their ability to turn everything into a clue, or get so caught up in an idea that they pursue it for too long without getting anywhere.
The Sloth
The exact opposite of the Excitable One, the Sloth likes to ride on the coattails of their team without contributing much at all. You might find them in the corner looking at the same clue for 20 minutes to make themselves look busy, or perhaps they’re even just putting their feet up and watching the action pass them by.
The Utility Belt
Don’t get us wrong, this is a great escapee to have on your team. Think of them like Batman’s utility belt – no matter what you need, they’ve got it. These escapees carry every clue around with them and are at your beck and call whenever you need them.
The Picker
Similarly to The Muscle, this escapee would rather use their impeccable picking skills to solve a puzzle than work out the clues to get the right answer. To be honest though, we think they just ruin the fun – and often break our puzzles :'(
